Finding out you have HIV can be a life changing experience. You may have worries about your health, relationships and telling other people. Although there is no cure for HIV, advances in treatment now mean you can expect a near normal life expectancy. HIV shouldn't be a barrier to you starting and maintaining relationships, having children and leading a long fulfilling life.
Many people find it useful to talk to someone if they've just had a positive diagnosis. Support, information and advice is available from your clinic as well as community organisations across the UK. You can search for help and support in your area using our online facility. There are also useful websites such as MyHIV and aidsmap, as well as magazines such as Baseline that may help answer the questions you have.
NAT is dedicated to improving the lives of people living with HIV. We do this by influencing laws and policies which affect people with HIV. We work on a range of issues including healthcare, benefits and rights. You can get more information on these issues and many more on our Everyday concerns page. We also provide useful resources for people living with HIV on areas such as employment, immigration and confidentiality.
